Issue Type Guidelines

Story

New features or user-facing functionality:

  • "Add user profile page"
  • "Implement flight search filters"

Task

Technical work or internal tasks:

  • "Update dependencies"
  • "Configure CI/CD pipeline"

Bug

Defects or issues:

  • "Fix login timeout error"
  • "Correct price calculation"

Epic

Large features spanning multiple stories:

  • "User Authentication System"
  • "Flight Booking Module"

Best Practices

Writing Good Summaries

  • Start with a verb: "Add", "Fix", "Update", "Implement"
  • Be specific and concise
  • Avoid vague terms

Good: "Add password reset via email" Bad: "Fix login stuff"

Writing Acceptance Criteria

Write testable criteria:

  • "User sees confirmation message after booking"
  • "API returns 400 for invalid input"
  • "Page loads in under 2 seconds"
